My custom xbox elite controller keeps disconnecting

Sometimes it will just completely disconnect while playing wireless even wired sometimes but not as much but a lot of them time when I’m playing it just stops working in game like if I click the Xbox button on the pad the overlay will come up but it’s like it’s not connected to the game and I have to click off the game with mouse then back on the game for it to start working again. It’s sooo annoying I spent a lot of money on this pad and the pc
