Looking to game on a desk setup with my series s console

Currently I just play with my Xbox connected to a tv. All I’m looking to do is move my setup from a couch to a desk. I’m not looking for any fancy pc setup - that being said, is it worth it to buy a gaming monitor for my Xbox series s? Or should I just purchase a small tv that would fit on a desk? If monitor is the best route - what are some recommendations ? I don’t need anything with more functionality than a tv but what are the benefits to a monitor ? I would have a headset on most of the time and always be using a controller. Looking for budget friendly options and general experience information because I don’t know if there’s a difference in connecting to a tv vs a monitor ?
