I have the SSD Expansion card for 1 TB. In the models listed in the title, there's one that gives 12 TB of storage and another that gives up to 2 TB of storage.

What's the main difference between the 2?

    WD_BLACK 2TB D30 ?

I would still consider an external SSD, perhaps 1TB. Then you can move the games you aren't playing to this drive, and move them back if you want to play them again. Much faster than redownloading them.

I have Crucial MX500 2TB SSD inside a drive enclosure connected to my Series X.

    WD_BLACK 2TB D30 ?

Unfortunately the WD_BLACK D30 can't be used to play Series X games directly from the drive. Despite this drive being an SSD, it only connects via USB and is thus too slow for Series X optimised games. You can only archive them. You can only play Xbox One games directly from such a drive.

If you've got loads of Xbox One games or BC Xbox 360/Original Xbox games it might be worth purchasing one. These games will load a lot faster on such a drive.

The only way to play Series X games on additional storage is either the Expansion card by Seagate or the WD's own Expansion card called the WD_BLACK C50

Thanks for the replay, I'm only interested in buying my games digitally so your answer to my question was spot on. I think as the D30 is not suited to my needs I am probably going to go down the alternative route of getting super fast fibre and have a download, play, delete & repeat mentality. Thanks.

Okay please read the whole paragraph before reply, this issue is very funky and specific.

    Hi,

I just tested All my external drives to give you an answer. both my 5TB WD_BLACK and 2TB SSD WD_BLACK are fine tranfering from each other while moving cursor up/down with no issue. When I try to do the same with the 8TB Seagate external trying to transfer
to both WD_BLACK externals and scrolling up/down while the system is searching game file size, my system blinks 3x and shutdown.

Maybe its happening because the 8TB seagate HDD is a desktop power supply drive, NOT USB powered drive. I’m currently in Alpha Skip Ahead. Before buying this 8TB seagate external, I read some mixed reviews with some issue of some drives not loading after
a few months or stop turning on all together. I don’t have does issues except this system shutdown. Hope it helps.
