DON'T BUY THE ELITE PRO 2! And definitely don't send it in for repair, if you want it to...

Well, I now applied for a 2nd repair service and will send the XBox Elite Series 2 controller back soon.

Lol what the hell are you on about. You don't pay for extra HD at all elite makes no difference to the graphics or gameplay and you don't HAVE to pay for elite to get the full experiance out of the game it's not like buying elite is going to make you win
games or anything it changes nothing.

Plus buying elite gives you all the DLC which works out cheaper than buying them normally.

If you don't want the DLC or the premium features then don't buy elite simple as that.

Let me tell you a story (sound like marcus on borderlands 2 hahah)

On 31 of May i send it from portugal a elite 2 to repair (warranty), on 10 of june the elite was delivery by UPS but never received by Microsoft, so last week, everyday i contact Microsoft to ask about the controller and today i got the email saying the controller
was arrived on Microsoft center (Germany).

So, hold you hand with them. I don't know there, but here they have 30 business day to repair and send to my house.

If you really do not want to send your xbox in to microsoft, you can buy a new disc drive kit online and replace it yourself. Doing so will void warranty, although I'm sure yours is already expired because you don't want to send it in. Your much better off
either sending it in to be repaired or buy the new console.

The Elite didn't have a different development path to the other consoles. It may be true that when it was released it would have had a different motherboard revision to the original Xbox Pro machines, but the later Pro machines would have also have had
the same motherboard as the Elite too. There is no technical difference between the Elite and the later Pro models, the hardware is the same, with the same performance characteristics.

The DVD drives in the Elite are exactly the same as the ones in the Pro Models. Microsoft doesn't even make the DVD drives, various manufacturers have been making them over the years for the 360 platform. The only difference with the Elite, is that said drives
have a black bezel rather the than a silver or beige bezel. The drive itself is the same.

I don't want to tempt fait here, but the last time my DVD failed in my console back in 2008, I shipped my machine off to be repared and mine has been working fine ever since. However since 2009, I have hardly used my consoles DVD drive as all of my games are
installed. My machine was repaired in Germany though.

Perhaps the repair center you have been sending your machine too are just replacing the DVD laser or replacing the DVD unit with a reconditioned drive, rather than a new unit? I don't know. I feel your pain, but perhaps it's time you replaced your Elite with
the Slim 250GB console?
