so whenever i run my moniter at 120 hertz it glitches out how do i fix this?

I have rest it and I am using the hdmi cord that came with the Xbox series s it says high speed so I don’t know why it isn’t working it doesn’t give the option at all even if I go down in resolution

No it won't. DisplayPort is not bidirectional and it won't work at all.

you do not need hdmi 2.1 for 120hz on any of the new consoles, please please please stop mis informing people this way.

you need hdmi 2.1 just for 4K and 120hz with VRR.

1080p and 1440 120hz does not need hdmi 2.1

@op your monitor supports 144hz but does not list 120hz in its edid which the xbox requires to select that.

I have checked the model of your monitor and sadly this is not compatible with the console to run at full resolution and that is because the monitor does not have a 2.1 port. You would need a monitor that has 2.1 hdmi port as well. You can check the list of monitors from Asus that are compatible with the console to run 120hz here:

I understand you need help with your resolution issue.

Does it not have an option to get you to 120hz? Are you using an HDMI 2.1 cable?

Try getting your resolution to lower down at least 1080p then try using 120hz if it lets you.

If that does not work, try resetting the console as well.

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select System.

4. Select Console info

5. Select Reset console.

6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.
