    Xbox One S Full Shutdown Causes Startup Issue


    Since last winter, every time my Xbox has a full shutdown, it hangs indefinitely during the next startup, and I'm forced to do a system reset. A hard reset (hold down power button, then unplug cable for 15 seconds) makes no difference. Certain updates apparently prompt a full shutdown even with power mode set to Sleep, so once or twice a month on average I've had to reset the console in order to use it again. If I enable diagnostic information sharing during setup, I'm likewise forced to reset my console within a day or two to get it working again. Enabling remote features also seems to be problematic, though not as immediately. Sleep mode is the only practical power option. Selecting Full Shutdown causes that indefinite startup cycle the very next time I turn the thing on. Updates to the store app also often create system instability where a system reset is again necessary, though of course I can't really tell if those two things are related or coincidental, but a console reset is my only option there as well. My Xbox works just fine otherwise. I've had no more issues than before running or streaming games.

    Based on the information you've shared in this post, I'd say your console's problem is likely hardware-related.

    If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions:

    - Are there any external storage devices plugged into your console? Sometimes corrupted/malfunctioning external storage units can cause startup problems or issues with certain features.

    - Is your console enrolled in the Xbox Insider program?

    - To clarify, have you already tried a complete system reset?

    Power & Startup - Turn off or restart - FULL SHUTDOWN

    I've had a similar issue this seems to remedy it.
