    How do I fix updating issue for both disc and digital games


    Earlier I was trying to play rdr2 then the game said it needed an update so I clicked update then it said installation cancelled tired to do it agian same thing. So I then restart the xbox which didn't do anything. Then uninstalled the game and reinstalled it from disc when it said it needed to update I clicked update same thing happened agian. Then few days before this I tried to install shadow of war agian kept on saying installation cancelled. Then both games keep on trying to repeatedly install but to the same conclusion that keeps on saying installation cancelled tried dishonored 2 on disc and it worked fine. I've tried everything I can to fix this issue tried to see if my xbox needs an update it doesn't lasted updated today. Tried to clear the local saved games still didn't work. Then I also tried clearing my alternative mac address and still doesn't work. I'm at a stump and I do not know what to do to try and fix the issue.

    A new storage unit is highly unlikely to give you the same error. Before buying a new storage unit, I'd highly suggest formatting your current one. The Installation Stopped error may be coming up due to corrupted data and not a hardware malfunction.

    You can do so by going to Settings > System > Storage devices > [Your external storage unit] > Format

    Would buying a new external storage unit keep on giving me the same issue or would it fix it because I prefer to keep my new gen games separate from my old gen games

    Yes it has worked haven't tried it with rdr2 but shadow of war is installing right now with no problems

    I'm glad Shadow of War is installing without any problems. I'd suggest leaving the external storage unit unplugged until the installation process is complete.

    I am using a xbox series x

    Yes I do have an external storage unit from seagate which a 1 TB drive that I have had and used for few years

    It's says installation stopped then continuously tried to update/install
