Why does my xbox turn off when it starts the third update bar for the console, it just...

I have a question on how to turn it off.

my xbox does an update on the console every second to third day. Ive tried turning it off and it still does it. I have update games and apps when its off but im in the middle of the game and it stops me from my gameplay to do an update.

its probably just a bug

Seriously, just turned my console off to notice the light start blinking then turn off. Looked at the power brick and it was orange, turned my console back on to be greeted with a green update bar

Generally this indicates some type of hardware problem, but to rule out a software problem please perform the following test.

First of all make sure that the console does not have any game disc inside, if this is the case please remove it before starting the procedure:

1. Turn off the console and unplug the power cord for 30 seconds to make sure the console is completely off, then plug it back in but don't turn it on yet.

2. Press and hold the Pair and Eject buttons on your console, then press the power button on your console once while still holding down the Pair and Eject buttons.

3. Press and hold the Pair and Eject buttons for 10 to 15 seconds until you hear the console power-on tone again, once you hear it you can release the buttons.

4. The console should turn on and display the Xbox startup troubleshooter on the screen.

Once the troubleshooter has started, try resetting your console by selecting reset this Xbox. When prompted, select Keep games and apps. This option will reset the operating system and delete all data that may be damaged, without deleting your applications or games. Finally check if the problem is fixed.

Just turn xbox off and start again update I did this twice third time loaded and updated ok........

Which it does at the prescribed time according to the update schedule. When it does a Preview update, however, it works just like any System update in that the screen only shows the Xbox, a progress bar, and a warning to not power off the console.
