microsoft xbox series x flight simulator won't finish installing, how to make it finish?

Sorry it took a while to reply, 2 days ago it finished installing - it took almost 2 weeks! crazy crazy.

There is no way i will factory reset the xbox and download the full DOA game again - which takes weeks also, sadly that was the reason I have an xbox and have to go through crazy hoops for that also - one supposedly the worlds fastest game console, that game (DOA) can take 30 minutes to start.

With regards to Flight Simulator, it's a sad case that a game cannot install without issues in a timely manner in 2023. Microsoft does make some good software and generally with a good experience, but I cannot say the installation of Flight Simulator X is a good one (nor offtopic 30 minutes to run DOA either just because I chose to buy every DLC)...

I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Flight Simulator game installation. I know how frustrating this is and I would totally feel the same way if I were in your shoes. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

It's important to note that this is a public user-to-user community forum, and none of us here work for Microsoft.

Since you have confirmed that you have enough storage, the game data might have been corrupted. Kindly try to perform the following workarounds:

1. Clear the local save for Flight Simulator and resync with the cloud. Here's how:

It’s possible that the local save for your game has become corrupted. If so, deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.

First, delete the local save:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button  on your controller.
Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.

After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:

Press and hold the Xbox button  in the center of your controller.
Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.

After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to the Xbox service.

Try installing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

Note: When doing this step please make sure that you used to play this game online so that all your data is saved to the cloud.

2. Reset console to factory defaults by keeping apps and games:

To reset your console without losing your game data, follow these steps:​​​​​

Note: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

Nothing to worry, no data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select System.
4. Select Console info
5. Select Reset console.
6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly. Once you're done, try to check if you will be able to complete the installation.

There are no Xbox tests planned currently. As flight simulator’s audience is extremely PC based, i believe the rumors that thr console version will be finished behind the PC.

Pure speculation, I expect the Xbox version will be ready for the series X launch, as its Likely a showcase game for its abilities

Flight SImulator is not compatible with any Xbox One, One S, or One X consoles

Only Series S and Series X

There are two versions of the joystick, one that is for PC only and one for Xbox, make sure you have the Xbox version and that the selector switch is set to Xbox

Make sure your specific model is compatible with Flight Simulator
