    Why does Minecraft show Xbox Gamertag’s hashtag number?


    I have changed my gamertag via the Xbox website. But it shows “SvmmyTvlhv4531” instead of “SvmmyTvlhv”. I opened the “Change Gamertag” option and it says that You have the same gamertag.(SvmmyTvlhv#4351). But since minecraft is a new game. It doesn’t show “SvmmyTvlhv”.

    There's still another account on the servers with the SvmmyTvlhv gamertag, so you will have numbers added.

    The number is shown in games that do not support the newer gamertag policy. Since Minecraft was released before that policy went in place, it doesn't support that policy so it shows the number.

    I had an account with the Gamertag”SvmmyTvlhv”. But i removed it from the account and changed my “SvmmyTvlhvMCYT” to “SvmmyTvlhv” and now it shows ”SvmmyTvlhv4531” now.

    The only way to not have the suffix added is to choose a tag that no one else has and that doesn't include special characters.
