Xb1 remote play public wi-fi issues

Xbox 1 S and Windows 10 Dell G3 laptop... the console stays at home on my home network ethernet.

Remote play works if I use my 4g cellular data to make my phone a hotspot for my laptop. But on public wifi with 200 mbps down and 100 mbps up (verified via speedtest) my laptop won't connect to my xbox.

I can't communicate with the public wifi owner... are there privacy or firewall settings on my laptop I should be looking for?

More info I've just come across: on the public wifi NAT says strict. Using my phone as a hotspot NAT changes to moderate.

Is this meant to change itself automatically? Thanks again.

they are very likely restricted video streaming and video game related websites from massive bandwidth on the public Wi-Fi. While you can get that kind of throughput,

Your router won't allow a device to connect to it's Wi-Fi unless the password is entered.

Are you saying the Wi-Fi password contains more characters than the XB1 entry box allows?
