Xbox considers a physical copy of a game that i own as a xbox game pass game

I would like to clarify, are you being prompted to buy an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

Because if you have the disc and you're getting the same error, it may mean that you're being asked for an Xbox Live Gold which is required to play a paid online multiplayer game.

If you own a digital copy (on your account) and a physical copy (the disc), then you own two copies of the game. The better option would be to let your friend use your game disc while you use your digital copy on your console that you've set as your Home
Xbox, as the setting is not intended or designed to be passed around to other users.

I used to be strictly only physical copy but now im mostly digital save for a few I got on good deals in stores but the pre owned market isn't great atm some pre owned prices are just as much if not more than getting it on sale in the xbox marketplace.
and with game pass and deals with gold I haven't bought a physical game in almost a year

I have tried across various models of Xbox. I do not get an error code it just loads the game pass version of new Vegas even when I insert the physical disc copy that I own

This doesn't help me sadly as that page also just says "You have a trial for this game".

Very confusing considering I own a physical copy of the game for each console.
