  1. Controller is skipping around when I try to make a selection.

So this started yesterday on my series x controller. When I use the dpad or the stick to try and make my selection of anything it goes down or over more than I want. For example. I try to search on YouTube and it moves over multiple letters when I try to select a certain one. When it’s not being touched the YouTube video will pop up with the length and more selections of the video. And when I push b to go back it keeps popping up it won’t go back. I have turned it off. Removed the battery. Idk what else to do. Any advice or do I need a new controller.

    :)

Just with this controlled. I’m on a tv if that’s what you mean by platform. I’m not a big gamer. Lol. My kids use it mostly.

Thank you so much for your response!

In order to fix this, you will need to perform some basic troubleshooting steps. Kindly update your Xbox controller firmware, here's how:

    1.) Update with USB:

If you have one, plug the stereo headset adapter into the bottom of your controller so it can also get updates.

If you're using a stereo headset adapter, plug in a headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on).

Plug the included USB cable into your Xbox’s USB port.

For Xbox Series X, the port is on the front right below the Pair button . For Xbox Series S, the port is on the front left next to the Pair button .

For Xbox One X and Xbox One S, the USB port is on the front under the Power button.

For original Xbox One, the port is on the left side of the console, around the corner from the disc tray.

Plug the other end of the USB cable into the top of the controller.

Instructions to install the update should automatically appear. Follow the instructions, and don’t disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. The process can take up to 3 minutes.

If instructions to install the update don’t automatically appear, you can start the process manually. To do this, press the Xbox button  to open the guide, choose Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller. If it says “Update,” select Firmware version, and then follow the steps provided.

    Things to keep in mind

The auto-detect feature of this update may not work immediately if you plugged your stereo headset adapter into the controller while downloading a system update, or while the console was turned off. To resolve this, go to the Home screen and unplug the adapter. Then, plug the adapter into the controller.

You only need to update your controller one time to use the stereo headset adapter. However, if you plan to use the stereo headset adapter with other Xbox controllers, you’ll need to follow this process for each controller. Additionally, check for new updates periodically as Xbox frequently ships new controller features and improvements.

2.) If this doesn't work, kindly try to update your device using wireless:

All but the original Xbox Wireless Controller can take updates wirelessly without connecting with a USB cable. This controller has a small, circular 3.5-mm port on the bottom of the controller (controllers without this port must update via USB cable).

If you have a stereo headset adapter, plug it into the bottom of your controller so it can also get updates.

If you're using a stereo headset adapter, plug in a headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on).

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, and then select the controller you want to update.

To fix this, go to the Home screen and unplug the adapter. Then, plug the adapter back into the controller.

You only need to update your controller one time to use the stereo headset adapter. However, if you plan to use the stereo headset adapter with other Xbox controllers, you’ll need to follow this process for each controller. Additionally, check for new updates periodically as Xbox frequently ships new controller features and improvements.

Once the update is done, please check if your controller works properly.

    Hey Hillary!

Nice to meet you! I'm Darhyl, a fellow gamer. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I am here to help. If I may ask, may I know which platform device are you using for your Xbox controller, is it on Windows PC or Xbox console?

Also, does the error occur to other Xbox controllers or just one specific controller only?

How do i make my Xbox one S open directly into the "who's playing today" screen whitout the startup whit the green background and Xbox logo?

Did you try the controller sign in?
At the moment, these two features are the ones that allow you to skip the profile selection screen.

    2. Click "Bluetooth"

    3. Right-click your Bluetooth driver then choose "update drive".

If you can also use an Xbox Wireless Adapter that would be great as well.
