Link my son's Steam to his Xbox account (Family Safety)

My son is 10. He loves to play Sea of Thieves. However, most of his friends play on steam. So, I am trying to link my son's steam to his Xbox, so he can play on xbox series x and pc (Game Pass) with his friends. But when i try to do it on xbox i get message that child account owners can't do it. I have read this thread: link. All permission settings on my son's account were fine referring to the explanation in the thread above. In addition, I changed the settings to "as for an adult" and changed my son's age to 15. Nothing helped.

In the mentioned thread removing the account from the group and adding it again helped to solve the problem. But I can't do that either. I get message (in web browser, on PC):

"Family members under the legal age need adult approval to join the family group. Only the adult who has given consent to XXX can remove this family member. Ask the family organizer who gave XXX permission to remove Igor from the family group".

I am the only adult in our family group. I gave my son permission 3 or 4 years ago. Managing a family group is completely unintuitive. What can I do?

Hmm, i need to check it again. My son told me he can only invite one friend he also plays with on xbox. When this friend invites others they can play together, but my son cannot invite these others.

I know. And, as i wrote in my first post, I set everything that was recommended in other forum threads. I also pointed out one thread where someone wrote that it didn't help until the user was removed from the family group and re-added. But I can't do this. Anyway, my son and I will try to invite his friends from the gamebar.

you don't need to link steam for him to play with friends on steam, all platforms use xbox live for that game and is fully crossplay.

all his friends need to do or himself is invite or be invited, if they invite him they just need to use gamebar on pc to invite regardless if steam or xbox app etc.

Okay, I must apologize for the confusion. The problem was that the son spelled some nicknames wrong. He invited users with nicknames similar to those of his colleagues

Everything works on PC and XBOX.

you need to do the following for his family xbox settings.

select the family member then manage xbox settings and then select their name and change the following.
