Will we ever get Colin McRae's Dirt 2 as Backwards Compatible?

Dirt 2 was an amazing childhood game that I picked up from my older brother and absolutely loved playing, the amazing soundtrack, tracks and trails, and interesting vehicle design induced a fixation within me on the game and I always just wish to be able to play it day in and day out almost like an everlasting memory of a nostalgic past. Does anyone think this gem of offroad racing will ever be resurrected from the dead and hopefully reestablish itself back on the Xbox as one of the most memorable offroad racing games out there?

Colin Mcrae DiRT2 will not be coming back any time soon. EA has purchased Codemasters and now it appears they have discontinued the DiRT series in favour of WRC since they hold the licenses.

DiRT2 still works on PS3, PC with windows 11 (there is some messing around to sort the GFWL setup) as of 2023, I would assume all works ok on xbox 360. The Racenet services used for sharing ghost runs was discontinued which in turn I think blocks you from completing DiRT2 on PS3. (It was an excellent feature, very dissappointed that was turned off) There are mods to remove the GFWL for stand alone access.

The PC release has slightly later version with different graphics compared to the one on PS3.

Its fairly difficult and expensive to find steam keys on the internet, but it is still accessible just not available for purchase (same for DiRT3)

There is something about the handling of the cars in DiRT2 that really works, I think that has something to do with Ken Block's (RIP) design input to this simcade. (same for DiRT3)

I understand you have a question about getting a game to backwards compatibility.

I know how much you wanted to have this game to be played again. For now, we do not have this game on backwards compatibility but Xbox has been expanding older games to be played on newer generations, let's just hope they add this one in the future as well.

colin mcrae`s dirt had some truck racing in it,maybe the sequels did too.

Cheers badger will give this a try. Think dirt rally is out next year, hopefully it goes back to the Colin mcrae style games which used to be great
