Sea of theives in game currency

purchased 40$ worth of in game currency in sea of theives from the xbox app on pc, did not get any coin in game

That is correct. The purchase was also made through the launcher.

First, make sure that the transaction is successful on your end by signing in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders, it should be stated as "completed".

Once confirmed, quit the game and then restart your PC before re-launching the game.

To clarify, are you playing the game through Xbox Launcher/Microsoft Store as well?

Tried that twice and neither were successful
