Xbox gamertag custom

Unfortunately there is no way to get rid of the numbers. This is a Microsoft implementation.

If you’re assigned a suffix, the # symbol and suffix appear everywhere except in friends lists. You don’t see suffixes of friends in your friends list, and they don’t see yours in their friends list. Your suffix may also appear in games that support the modern gamertag system so that everybody knows who’s who.

New Xbox players or those who want to change their gamertag can claim a desired gamertag with up to 12 characters. If a gamertag is already taken, a suffix with numbers is attached to differentiate you from other people with the same gamertag. Suffixes are subtle so that the focus is on the name you chose, but they are always shown.

If you do decide to change your existing gamertag, be aware that you may lose it to someone else. To learn more about creating a new gamertag

• On Xbox 360: Gamertags can be up to 15 characters long, including spaces. They can’t start with a number.
  
• On Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows: Gamertags can be up to 12 characters long, including spaces. They can’t start with a number.
  
• If you receive a message that says a gamertag is unavailable, this means that you’ll need to try another. The gamertag that you’re trying to create is either inappropriate for the Xbox service or can’t be used at this time.
  
• After you confirm your new gamertag, the change is reflected across Xbox. You don't need to tell your friends that you've changed it—their friends lists will be updated automatically.

Sorry to hear you are running into this problem. It looks like you have chosen a Custom Gamertag when you first created your Xbox account. In this case because the gamertag was customized, you are not going to be able to change it again without paying for
the gamertag change.

I never chose this customization. The Gamertag is only concatenation of my first name and my last name... And now, Microsoft wants to force me to pay to preserve my privacy
