    my monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium but variable refresh rate is greyed out for me in xbox settinngs

    i use fps mode in monitor gaming settings and there is no amd freesync option at all but there is G-SYNC option and its turned off

    also, should i use it or 1080p 120hz is better? thanks

    May I also point out that to enable VRR (Variable Refresh rate), you also need VRR capable TV or monitor.

    VRR works on both 60Hz and 120Hz.

    Yes you should, and make sure VRR is enabled in the Xbox display settings.

    Freesync Premium is a VRR technology (variable refresh rate). In a nutshell, your displays refresh rate is synced to the frame rate of the game you are playing. This means smoother gameplay and no unsightly screen tearing.

    Series S Flickering 120FPS

    Variable Refresh Rate was enabled however disabling it causes the flickering to stop. I notice other people reporting the same issues.

    I purchased an upgraded HDMI 2.1 cable capable of 8k and 4k 120fps it did not solve the issue. Disabling variable refresh rate solves the issue.

    So this has to be some kind of software compatibility problem. For now I just disabled Variable Refresh Rate on the console and disabled Adaptive/Free Sync on the monitor until hopefully Xbox does an update in the future.
