    I bought an xbox series X less than a year ago, and suddenly started getting an error code (0x87e1001f) in which I will be kicked out of my game and all of my hardware will disconnect like my external hard drive, controller, and headset, and it will tell me “something went wrong with your hard drive”. I know it is not my hard drive because it works fine on other consoles and the issue disconnects my controller and headset too (for about 10 seconds). Another thing to note about this issue for me is that it only happens with larger games like 60GB or more which is only a few of mine but the only ones I play. And, just before it happens, I am usually throwing a lot of information and a lot of transferring of data is occurring at once like while in combat or while running around, but it NEVER does this automatically when I am just standing still/not playing/idling. So I took the advice of my fellow advocates on here when doing research and I reset, disconnected, reconnected, and did all kinds of restarts and shut downs and it still keeps happening. Yes, you read that right. I have reset my console roughly 5 times (keeping games and apps the first time, then full resetting the next several times), and whenever I reset it I have some time to play my games before it starts up again, usually in a day or two, and then I have to do the cycle again.

    Something is wrong with my xbox. Any fixes?

    Try the following steps to resolve the issue:

    Update your Xbox: Go to Settings > System > Console info & updates and check for updates.

    Check for firmware updates on your controller and accessories.

    Check your internet connection and restart your router.

    Clear the cache on your Xbox: Go to Settings > System > Storage & reset > Reset local content.

    Check the hard drive for errors: Go to Settings > System > Storage & reset > Check console storage.

    Remove and re-add the affected games to your Xbox: Go to My games & apps > Games > Highlight the game > Press the menu button (3 dots) > Manage game & add-ons > Move to another storage device.

    Hi Zack,

    I have actually tried this and it seems to be the only thing that is a temorary fix. I can play a few games and then it will keep me off again.

    I notice if i hold in the power button for 10 seconds to reset my xbox the first time it kicks me off its only for a second or 2 but then the next time it keeps me off long enough that i get completely disconnected from xbox live.

    Let me clarify my above statement: When I say "it kicks me out after 5 to 10 minutes" what I mean is that it kicks me out of the online game and takes me back to matchmaking. It never says I'm disconnected from Xbox Live.
