I received a code as a gift, but unfortunately I cannot redeem it in my country, how can I find out in which country the code was purchased?

You're welcome. Regardless of the code, you'd need to find out from the person who bought it where they purchased it from.

No matter what was gifted the code is region locked .be it over xbox live

Or email or reseller if you don't live in an xbox live region you are playing Russian roulette with codes as mentioned they are all region locked your friend will have to buy from.an etailer from your region and then send you the code

I understand you wanted to redeem a code you received as a gift from your dad. Just a friendly reminder, all codes are region-locked, meaning, they can only be redeemed on the same region/country they initially purchased from. Since you are located on a different region/country from your dad, I'm afraid you won't be able to redeem the code.

In this case, what I can recommend is to ask your dad to request a refund for it and he can just send you funds through Paypal if you have any.
