Hello is this a defect? The usb ports are always on even with a full shutdown... all night, all day they are powering anything plugged into them.... dont tell me it works in power saver mode either that doesn't help... so either thats a lie or its defective right? should i sent it in for warranty? Or is it just a lie that they can turn off?

    :)

You do realize your tv uses more watts per hour phantom wise off right? Then your xbox while on right

    Even your microwave does roo

You are talking.about 2-3 watts per hour which is a couple.cents per day

Tv maintains some.power usage so you can click on on your remote

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this ADAMMARTINI-VALENCIA

May I know if you have enabled the option to automatically turn off external storages via Xbox settings?

Also, may I know if you’re using an insider build / beta OS in your console?
And, when this started to happen?

they are powered on all the time, it is by design so people who use charging docks are always charged up etc, or for external hdd's that need to come on when the unit checks for updates etc.

Using a wireless controller with a wired connection (wireless signal vs. wired signal)

Jesse, can you clarify - if the controller is connected to the console (Series X) via usb cable, is it transmitting the control signal over the wire, or is the USB cable only ever used to supply power, with control always being wireless?

Xbox Series X Seagate 2TB SSD connection weak

There isn't enough power on the bus for the card and the external guessing platter HDD

You need to get a powered USB 3.0 hub, that comes with an external power brick
This was the first time I've had issues with it. I set the system up when I had the original Xbox one around 2015 or 2016 and the USB port layout has stayed the same when I switched to the newer Xbox Series X. The only difference was the switch from a USB 2.0 hub to a 3.0 hub

Since the Xbox Series X has more up to date USB ports, I doubt it would be a lack of distributed power

    USB Port Layout:

x1 - USB 3.0 HDD plugged directly into the port on the Series X

x1- USB 3.0 Hub 4-Port (Not independently powered by a power brick)

    1. USB 3.0 SteelSeries Headset receiver
    2. Empty
    3. Empty
    4. USB 3.0 Seagate SSD
